How much pain and drawbacks can you handle before you get it right?

During the last 12 months, Benny, Ben, and I have navigated the difficult path of discovering what it means to start and build a company from 0.

We spent a year breaking down the massive problem we found, piece by piece. A year of relentless building, testing, and collaborating with our clients. Countless sleepless nights to meet deadlines, intense feedback sessions, constant pressure, moments of doubt, and our strong drive to keep going. ****

For sure the toughest year of our lives, an unimaginable roller coaster of highs and lows—and yet, we’re only just beginning.

Welcome to our story—the journey of Aybee.

Best friends for over a decade, united by a shared passion to tackle a massive problem worth solving.

Our goal: build something great that delivers massive value to a specific industry.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve learned what it takes to find a problem so big that businesses care deeply about —a problem worth their money, time, and resources to let us solve it.

Thus, Ben, Benny, and I decided to go all in during summer 2023. We quit our jobs and threw ourselves into starting our own company. Our first base? A tiny Lisbon apartment—three bedrooms and a living room we quickly turned into an office.

We had a list of 10 problems worth solving. Instead of rushing into development, we validated each one to avoid building a product no one needs.

We were wrong nine times!

Nine hard-hitting realizations that the problem we thought was critical either wasn’t that big, was buried in a crowded market, or was just a “nice-to-have” instead of a must-have solution.

The final problem we validated was one we all had direct experience with through our previous jobs — it was deeply rooted in e-commerce.

Ben came from Amazon Business, Benny led top consumer companies through mergers, and I helped brands successfully launch and optimize products on marketplaces.

After four months of validation, we identified two major problems closely associated with brands that sell products on Amazon. We spoke to over 100 business owners and almost everyone had the same two problems.

Problem 1 - New Product Launches: On Amazon, 80% of new products fail and less than 1% become best-sellers.

Problem 2 – Shopping Behavior on Amazon: Amazon is a blackbox for brands. 99% of Amazon brands rely on their gut feeling when launching and improving products.

We built a marketplace intelligence platform that tackles both problems. We can test new product ideas with real consumers while understanding their shopping behavior on Amazon. The world’s biggest consumer companies already use behavioral testing methods, but they pay a fortune to specialized agencies for one single test. These costs are far beyond what smaller companies can afford to spend on testing a single product.

We’ve managed to cut the cost by 90%, by automating most of the manual work while providing even greater value. We’ll share more about it in the next weeks!

To all our loyal clients and early adopters: We’re super excited for 2025 and can’t wait to keep helping you gain significant competitive advantage on Amazon with Aybee.
